Self tanners and spray tans can be used with caution for clients with eczema. Here are some helpful tips for both types of application
- For Spray Tan artists make sure not to tan your client too dark
- Sometimes over exfoliating can cause more patchiness, advise little to no exfoliation prior
- Recommend hydrate me lotion 6-12 hours before the tan in dry areas
- Use basic balm or lotion on affected areas prior to tanning
As with any new product being introduced on the skin, there’s always a possibility that any skin condition could temporarily worsen. We cannot tell for sure whether this will happen or not, as everyone has individual skin types and issues. We’ve noticed that clients tend to find their skin condition improves with the use of SunnaTan airbrush tans and products. If you are currently using a different sunless tanning product, or have in the past and notice that their skin condition worsens, you might find the opposite with SunnaTan. It’s as simple as comparing ingredients and ensuring there are no specific allergens listed. When you look at what’s in the SunnaTan solution, you will find that the ingredients are all designed to soothe and comfort the skin without irritation.
For clients with problematic skin, we always use a patch test on the areas of concern before tanning the entire body.
Depending on the client the outcome is always different. Some people with vitiligo find self-tanning darkens their non-pigmented (white) areas and helps blend the darker areas into an even tan.
